Delicious and slightly caramelized taste.
If you are a baking enthusiast, a definitely must try!
I came across this bread for the first time in subway, and ever since has been my most favorite sandwich bread.
Delicious and slightly caramelized taste. If you are a baking enthusiast, a definitely must try! One of the simplest, quickest and tastiest gujju recipes. Learnt this one too from my Mum-in-Law. And yep, once you read the recipe don't pop your eyes with surprise at the typical 'secret' gujju ingredient. Trust me, it adds a whole different flavour to these sabjis. This is my husband's favourite sabji with freshly baked rotlis and ghee. Do give it a try this way. Bon Appétit I am a Maharashtrian, and for our breakfast, we normally would have simple poha, upma or sabudana khichdi.
As soon as I got married into a Gujarati family, I got to explore into their most delicious breakfast options! I have never had any fried food for breakfast before, but trust me, more than the main breakfast dishes, this accompaniment that came with it all lured me the most! A delicious dip made from yogurt and mint leaves. Works wonders as a dip for any and everything! very simple and a delicious recipe! A super quick fix and one of the tastiest recipes!
If you are craving for some South - Indian food without having to follow long recipes, this one is the best and the quickest, with the closest results to an authentic Idli. They can be had just the way they are, or with simple Chutney or molagapudi or with Samabar. There’s something so tasty about South Indian food, that even when you are very full, it makes you keep wanting for more.
Amazingly simple, fresh ingredients make such beautiful, delicious dishes! This is one of them. I have always had 3 - 4 extra servings of this chutney whenever at a South Indian restaurant, and always wondered how do they make it so delicious! The recipe couldn't be any simpler than this. A very quick recipe and absolutely heavenly! In Pune, close to Fergusson College, there used to be a little kiosk that would serve anything and everything made of corn and a big variety of dishes made of baby corn or a full ear of corn.
Even the dips and chutneys would be made of corn. They were absolutely delicious. I used to feast on them almost 12 years back and hadn't tasted them since. On one of the weekends Mitul and I had gone to a new Chinese place to try it out, and they served the exact same thing as an appetizer. It brought back a flood of college memories and I had to make it at home as soon as I got the chance to. A definite must try and makes a fantastic snack. One of my mum-in-law's genius creations.
A delicious snack / meal with a great balance of vegetables and pulses. And to break the monotony, a crunchy garnish of sesame seeds. A definite must-try. What a perfect meal for a nice hot summer day !
Fresh salads with a mix of fresh fruits definitely make it very refreshing. This is one of my favourite salads as it has a perfect blend of crunchy salad leaves, sweet n sour orange chunks, enough of carbohydrates by the beans, nice creamy taste of the feta cheese and a perfect tangy orange oregano dressing! Feta Cheese is traditionally made in Greece. It is a crumbly aged cheese, commonly produced in blocks, and has a slightly grainy texture with a very rich creamy taste. It is used as a table cheese, as well as in salads (e.g. the Greek salad), pastries and in baking, notably in the popular phyllo-based dishes ("spinach pie / cheese pie"), or served with some olive oil or olives and sprinkled with aromatic herbs such as oregano. It can also be served cooked or grilled, as part of a sandwich, in omelettes, or as a salty alternative to other cheeses in a variety of dishes. Bon Appétit Any fruit based salads of dressings give a whole different flavour and crunch to the salad.
The rind or skin of any fruit holds its concentrated flavour and essence, and hence using it for a salad, gives it a very prominent flavour. A simple, quick recipe with all basic ingredients and an outstanding result! A very traditional Gujarati recipe. And how much ever I try to, but no one can make them as soft and delicious as my mom-in-law! She is the ONLY one I know who has the patience to make palm sized theplas for all of us with a bottomless tummy! The best combination for any theplas is when you take a small bite of a thepla and gulp it down with amazing masala chai. Oh what early morning bliss! This is my husbands favourite sabji with freshly baked rotlis and ghee. Do give it a try this way. Bon Appétit Definitely one of my favourites for a nice light meal.
Makes a great salad for a lunch box filler too and is very simple and quick to make. A lot of variations to this salad can be made by adding peanuts, beans, vegetables, herbs, lemon juice, and whatever else you like in your meal. Bon Appétit Pretty unimaginable to think of mixing mint and garlic together for a dressing right?
But trust me, one of the most delicious and quick salad dressing recipes! But because it has raw garlic, it would be almost impossible to have it for a meal at work or to be on the safer side, have it for a meal at home. One of my favourites for a nice filling lunch.
I so wanted to eat pasta today, but didn't have any pasta sauce at home. So thought of having a healthier and a less filling option. The best part I love about this salad is the combination of pasta, cucumber and tomatoes. A perfect blend of carbs and fibre to make it an awesome meal. Enjoy it with a chilled fizzy drink! Bon Appétit A very traditional Gujarati recipe. One of the best and THE tastiest Maharashtrian dishes! One really needs to have the stomach for spicy curry to even think of enjoying this, because that is the main element of this delicious curry. It's a traditional curry from Kolhapur (Maharashtra) which is also very famous for its ''Kolhapuri Masala''. If the curry isn't layered with a blood-red chilli powder and oil tempering, then it ain't done!! I remember, on our every trip to Kolhapur, there is a small kiosk called ''Fadtare Misal'' which serves THE best and THE spiciest misal pav there, and we would always always go there for breakfast, eat like hogs and suffer from indigestion and acidity for the next 2 days! That's what I mean by, you can't stop eating it even once you are full! A very very simple, and an amazingly delicious invention. Got this recipe from my aunt, who, no one can beat at, in making this dish. My husband is a gujju, and for someone who is used to eating all his vegetables with at least 1 tablespoon of sugar, for him this dish is like a quick trip to hell and back! But he too relishes it completely, without fearing the consequences. I still have to get him to have this without adding any sugar to it! Hope you like it as much as we love it. Bon Appétit! One of the weekends, we had gone to a well known Indian restaurant for lunch, and were pretty intrigued with the dish called 'Methi Murg' which we had never had before. Trust me, the waiter was surprised thinking that he left an empty clean bowl on our table! It turned out to be so so delicious that we literally wiped the bowl clean. I had to try making this on one of our Thursday's special dinner, and wow did it turn out delicious!! A very simple, quick recipe and unbelievably tasty! Hope you like it as much as we relished it. Bon Appétit A very Indian and a delicious recipe!
Got it from my mum-in-law, and hopefully have done justice to it. This is one of those recipes that make a rainy / winter day very special. Tastes amazing if you have the freshly baked bread buns with nice pot of masala chai. Was an absolute joy to make it and a greater joy to feast on it! I have been out of Pune for almost 8 years now, and whenever I go back, it's hardly for 3 - 4 days at a time, hence I don't get time to explore and experiment new and old restaurants as much as I used to. During my college days, in Camp Area, there used to be a small kiosk with about 10 chairs outside, near Sohrab Hall which would sell only parathas. Be it morning, noon, night or even midnight, that place would always be packed with people, waiting to dine in and take away. They had about 40 different parathas on their menu, but the best was always Muli Paratha. Tried to remember the taste n make one at home, and luckily it turned out JUST like theirs! An amazing recipe. And a definite must try! An absolutely delicious find! My sister came up with this recipe. Her son lives on an idli diet and to make sure he ate some vegetables with it too, she came up with a variation of the original recipe.
Idlis are very delicious by themselves anyways, add to that batter, nicely tempered, roasted vegetables and it definitely tastes more delicious than ever. My mum-in-law is an amazing cook. She can make anything delicious out of the simplest and least number of ingredients.
All the chutneys that she can whip up are absolutely delicious! This is the one that is permanently stocked up in the fridge. If any guests drop in at home, a quick fix of dhoklas and this chutney is a perfect snack! It also tastes very delicious if used for making sandwiches or even any parathas. This is a very simple and delicious recipe, and tastes very different from any typical coconut chutneys. Definitely give it a try! |
